IB MYP Learner Profile Attributes
At Tubman, we strive to develop within students the IB Learner Profile Attributes, which are the foundation of an International Baccalaureate Programme. The IB Learner Profile Attributes are fostered across the curriculum and throughout the school day, helping to shape global citizens in a more peaceful world.
The IB Learner Profile Attributes
In the Middle Years Programme at Tubman, students are:
Caring: They demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect. They have a commitment to service and action to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around them.
Balanced: They understand the importance of balancing different aspects of their lives- intellectual, physical, and emotional- to achieve well-being for themselves and others. They recognize their interdependence with other people and with the world in which they live.
Communicators: They express themselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in many ways. They collaborate effectively and listen carefully to the perspectives of others.
Principled: They act with integrity and honesty, with a sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the rights of people everywhere. They take responsibility for their actions.
Open-Minded: They critically appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. They seek and assess a range of views, and are willing to grow as a result of each experience.
Knowledgeable: They explore knowledge, concepts, and ideas across a range of disciplines. They engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.
Risk-Takers: They approach uncertainty and unfamiliar situations with forethought and determination; they independently and cooperatively work to explore new ideas and innovative strategies. They are resourceful and resilient when faced with challenges and change.
Inquirers: They develop their natural curiosity by acquiring the skills for inquiry and research. They know how to learn independently and with others. They develop a love of learning that is sustained throughout their lives.
Reflective: They thoughtfully consider the world, their own ideas, and their experiences. They are able to assess their strengths and weaknesses in order to support their learning and personal development.
Thinkers: They use critical and creative thinking skills to analyze and take responsible action on complex problems. They exercise initiative in making reasoned, ethical decisions.
